Prof. Dr. Marcos Fava Neves

Marcos Fava Neves, born in Lins (SP), is a part-time professor at the Faculties of Administration of the University of São Paulo in Ribeirão Preto and the Getúlio Vargas Foundation in São Paulo. Agronomist graduated from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ / USP) in 1991, he completed his postgraduate (master’s, doctorate and free-teaching) career in business strategies and became a full professor at USP at the age of 40, having been Head of the Administration Department of USP in two administrations.

He completed his postgraduate degree in food marketing and agribusiness planning in France (1995 – in the IGIA) and in the Netherlands (1999 – University of Wageningen). Since 2006, he has been International Visiting Professor at the University of Buenos Aires and since 2013 at Purdue University, Indiana, where he taught all year round 2013.

He is specialized in strategic planning and management, having carried out more than 200 planning projects in Brazilian and world agribusiness. He worked or was a member of the Boards of the following organizations: Botucatu Citrus, Vallée, Lagoa da Serra (CRV); Renk Zanini, Inova, Embrapa, Meat Information Service, World Agribusiness Association, Cooperativa Coplana, Cooperativa Holambra, Ouro Fino, Canaoeste and Orplana (Cane Planters Organization). Helped to set up and is a shareholder of 3 companies, being 2 start-ups.

 

Career Numbers:

He is the author and organizer of 67 books published in Brazil, Argentina, the United States, South Africa, Uruguay, England, Singapore, the Netherlands and China by 10 different publishers. He also wrote two cases for Harvard University (2009/2010) and Purdue University (2013).

He has published over 200 articles indexed in international and national scientific journals, having received 4,000 citations according to Google Scholar, one of the most cited Brazilian scientists worldwide.

He was a columnist for China Daily in Beijing and Folha de S. Paulo, as well as writing articles for O Estado de S. Paulo and Valor Econômico, among others, having more than 600 articles of joint analysis published in magazines and newspapers.

Participated in 335 Congresses in Brazil and abroad, having also organized more than 30 Congresses in Brazil and abroad.

In the formation of disciples and human talents, he guided 30 Theses, being 5 of Doctorate and 25 of Master and 133 Monographs. He helped, as a teacher, to train more than 1,200 business administrators, offering 127 undergraduate courses and 22 Master’s and PhD courses at USP.

In the evaluation of scientists, participated in 176 Banks, being 52 PhD and 124 Master in Brazil and abroad.

He held 1,080 lectures in 22 countries, being one of the most well-known and internationally respected Brazilians in agribusiness.
